Turns of idling are regulated only on carburetor engines for the purpose of compensation of wear of the engine, or after dismantling of the carburetor. This procedure is not obligatory at maintenance.

On injector engines turns are regulated automatically and are established only when replacing units of fuel system.

Turns of idling and the moment of ignition are recommended to be regulated together with the subsequent mutual adjustment.

CARBURETTOR ENGINES

Adjustment

Prevention
The angle of opening of a butterfly valve is established industrially.
The adjusting screw of the gate is closed by a cap which should be cracked only in case of repair of the carburetor. Otherwise the accuracy of other adjustments is broken, profitability falls and the converter resource decreases.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Switch off everything onboard consumers.
2. Connect a stroboscope and a tachometer.
3. Establish transmission in neutral situation and switch-off the cooling system fan.
4. Warm up the engine. On cars of 1987-89 press a pedal of a butterfly valve to turn off bystry idling.

Prevention
You watch engine temperature, in case of an overheat stop.

5. Check installation of ignition, if necessary adjust.
6. Check idling turns. If necessary adjust, rotating the SAS1 screw near a butterfly valve of primary camera.

INJECTOR ENGINES

On these engines the system of automatic stabilization of idling is provided (ISC system). For check of installation of turns of idling execute the following.

Check
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Switch off everything onboard consumers. Establish transmission in neutral situation.
2. Start the engine, several minutes later stop.
3. Insert a paper clip into the socket of the sensor of speed of rotation of the engine from conducting (it is included between primary winding of the coil and the filter) and connect a tachometer to a paper clip.
4. Start the engine. Check the ignition moment, if necessary adjust.
5. Bring turns to 2000–3000 rpm, later 5 sec. transfer the engine to idling. 2 min. later check indications of a tachometer.

DIESEL

Check
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Switch off everything onboard consumers. Establish transmission in neutral situation.
2. Start the engine, several minutes later stop.
3. Connect a diesel tachometer.
4. Bring turns to 2000–3000 rpm, later 5 sec. transfer the engine to idling. 2 min. later check indications of a tachometer.
5. If necessary adjust, having released a lock-nut and rotating the screw. Upon termination of tighten a lock-nut.
